Privacy

Install KC is a one-person appliance installation business in Kansas City. This page says what we collect, why, and how to get it removed. Plain English, no lawyer.

Short version: we keep the details we need to measure, install and look after your appliances. We don't sell or rent any of it, and we don't run ads.

Who this covers

Install KC (Scott Townsley), Kansas City, Missouri. It applies to installkc.com (the public website) and ops.installkc.com (the sign-in app used by Install KC and its crew). Questions: scott@installkc.com or text 913-735-4135.

What we collect on installkc.com

  • Contact form: your name, cell number, email if you give it, ZIP code and your message, plus whether you said it's OK to text you and how you heard about Install KC. It also includes how you first reached the site (for example a Google search, a link from another site, or a business card) and the page you landed on, so Scott knows what's working. It's emailed to Scott so he can reply.
  • Appliance care page: if you look up your job number, the page shows the appliances installed at that job and their care tips. No names or addresses are shown. If you tap "Request care guide," Scott gets an email with the job number and model.
  • Site use: which pages are viewed and which links are tapped (for example a link to a partner showroom), with the device type. This is measured with Google Analytics, which uses cookies; you can block it with your browser's privacy settings or Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This tells us what's useful on the site. We don't build profiles of individual visitors.

What we collect on ops.installkc.com

This app is for Install KC and the people who work with it, not for the public.

  • Sign in with Google: we ask Google only for your email address and basic profile (name), to check that you're on the crew list. We don't see your password and we don't access your Gmail, calendar, contacts or anything else in your Google account.
  • Crew details: name, email, phone, role, pay rate, schedule, time off, and the hours and photos recorded on a visit.
  • Job details: the homeowner's or builder's name, job address, contacts, appliance models and serial numbers, measurements, photos of the openings and installed appliances, notes, quotes and invoices. This is the record of the work.
  • A sign-in cookie so you stay signed in for up to 60 days. That's the only cookie the app sets.

How it's used

  • To reply to you, quote, schedule, measure, install and service appliances, and to invoice for the work.
  • To keep an accurate record of each install (what was measured, what was installed, serial numbers, photos) so warranty and service questions can be answered later.
  • To improve how we install: measured sizes and fit notes from real jobs are kept against each appliance model. Those notes may be published in general form ("this model has fit a 29 7/8-inch opening") without any names, addresses or job details.
  • Photos of a finished install may appear on installkc.com only if they show no faces, house numbers or anything that identifies the home, and only for Install KC's own direct clients unless the client or their builder agrees.

Who we share it with

  • Crew working your job see the job name, address, contact and notes they need on site. They never see pricing or other jobs.
  • The showroom or builder who referred the job (for example an appliance dealer) may get the measurements and findings for your installation, because they're part of making the install go right.
  • Service providers that run our systems: Cloudflare (hosting, forms and email delivery), Airtable (the database), Google (sign-in and website analytics), and Stripe if and when online payments are offered. Each only gets what it needs to do its job.
  • We don't sell, rent or trade any of it, and we don't share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Job records are kept for as long as the appliances are likely to need service, which can be many years. Crew sign-in access ends when someone leaves the crew. Contact-form messages are kept as part of the job if work follows, otherwise they're just email in Scott's inbox.

Your choices

  • Email scott@installkc.com to see what we have about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We'll do that unless we're required to keep it (for example, invoices for tax records).
  • Texts: reply STOP to any text from Install KC and we'll stop texting you.
  • Google sign-in: you can remove Install KC Ops from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions at any time. Your crew access can also be turned off by Scott.

Children

Our sites and app are for adults arranging appliance work. We don't knowingly collect anything from children under 13.
